Close to the Arc de Triomphe in an empty former department store, people gather to experience the newest ready to wear collection of Romans Designer Giambattista Valli at the Paris Fashion Week.
“The idea is to share my emotions with my customer–not only business,” he said. “I want to give colors with smell, taste, and textures, and inspire feeling in the draping, the lightness, and the billowing. You want to wear them, you want to smell them…you almost want to eat them.” - Giambattista Valli stated in an interview with Vogue.
Starting of the SS 2023 fashion show the designer showed us the familiar sheerness and softness of light pastel pink fabrics flowing across the runway. Mixed with white pieces the designer used sparkly gold to detail the bodyfittet part of the collection.
The designers Roman influences were shown in how he combined his designs with gold gladiator sandals and shapes of his garments.
Straight out of a fairytale the show continued. Enriched with black lines and shapes and accents of light green leaves the models walked the beautiful full length dresses down the runway.
Mixed in we saw a variety of statement pieces that stood out with their beautiful bright colors breaking the overall ocean of sheerness and softness.
Puffed-sleeves, bows, lace and draping were a common recurrence throughout the garments.
Overall the SS 2023 collection looked like straight out of the closet of a modern day fairytale princess.
